It’s the end of Parrot’s 4th year at school. He’ll be starting year 4 in September….where does the time go?!
I got his school report last Wednesday. My boy is doing well! He’s at least average in everything, and reading/literacy is above average. The school continue to be impressed with his progress.
When he started school he was really insecure. He had serious seperation anxiety and panicked I wouldn’t pick him up. He didn’t have a great deal of self confidence, he was shy and struggled to make friends. Sometimes his insecurities made him not only upset but agitated/angry and disruptive. He performed below average in most things.
Thankfully, his school (unlike the MS school Kestrel attended when she was his age) has been very supportive and he has had lovely teachers including an amazing, supportive and very funny male teacher in Year 2 which was really good for him. He has made huge strides. We have tried several great strategies and over time as he has become more secure anyway.
- I now feel his work and academic performance reflects his natural abilities
- He has friends and a few close friends he enjoys playing with
- He ENJOYS school and apart from a few weeks this year (caused by his great anxiety over our birth mum contact saga) is quite happy to go every morning
Also, did I mention he had great fun on Thursday’s Sport Day where he took part in the relay and his team came second?!
So basically I’m a happy mummy at the end of this school year
